Glossary of Terms and acronyms

OC3:
Optical Carrier 3, a fibre optic line capable of carrying data up to a maximum of 155 MBit/s.

Online Service Provider:
Organisation providing commercial on-line services to subscribers, usually including Internet access but typically involving the Online Service Providers own proprietary services. Examples of Online Service Providers include Microsoft Network, America Online and Compuserve.

Orbital Slot:
The orbital position of a geostationary satellite relative to the Greenwich Meridian. Thus a satellite with an orbital position of 13 degrees East is over the equator 13 degrees eastward from the Greenwich Meridian. Several satellites might be located at a single orbital slot.
