Spidersat Announces ‘SpiDirect’ - Africa's fastest, most affordable internet VSAT solution

New technological developments in satellite technology allow Spidersat Communications to now offer entry-level, low-cost, full throughput VSAT internet communications to customers with variable bandwidth requirements.

Mining is the most dynamic industry sector and main source of foreign exchange in Guinea, a 245,857 km2 country located in West Africa, with a population of roughly 10 million. Mineral resources account for over 85% of the country's exports and 25% of its GDP. In addition to gold and diamonds, the country holds 30% of the world's Bauxite reserves, and two unexploited world-class iron ore deposits in the South East of the Country.

Wide Area Networks have inherent delays and bandwidth limitations. Because of its high cost due to satellite capacity shortage, bandwidth is further limited for satellite based infrastructures. Repetitive data sent across the satellite link increases total utilisation and introduces congestion, slowing down applications and creating user frustrations. Many applications compete for limited Satellite bandwidth resources, causing further congestions and degradation of critical applications.
